Sacred Fools New Works Workshop
Come play with us!
The Sacred Fools Theater Company is interested in helping to
develop new and exciting work for the stage. To that end, we
would like to provide a space where that work can grow – the
New Works Workshop.
Each project will be provided with time in the theatre,
dependant on the show's needs and the current production
schedule. That time can be used to rehearse, experiment and
even perform for an invited audience.
Each project submitted for a New Works Workshop (NWW) should
match the following criteria:
*
At least one company member should be attached to the project
in some way (writer, director, or producer) and that company
member will be the chief liaison between the workshop and the
rest of the company.
*
Work should be either completely original, an original
adaptation from another medium or a completely original
interpretation of an existing script.
*
The emphasis of the workshop should be on either the script or
developing the interaction between the script and actors – we
want to help you answer script questions that can’t be
answered alone.
*
Projects should seek to include
members of the Sacred Fools
Theater Company in the workshop process.
* No time in the space will be allotted for auditions.
The focus of these workshops should be on working on the play,
not on creating a perfect showcase production. The Literary
Manager will be able to aid in getting casts for these
workshops, and using actors from outside the company is
acceptable. But we recommend just casting on your own.
And, again, no time will be allowed in the space for auditions
for these workshops.
Please be aware that the New Works Workshops will receive no
funds and no marketing support other than possible inclusion
on the website and in the company’s programs. Furthermore,
acceptance to the New Works Workshop is absolutely no
guarantee of future full production on the Sacred Fools Stage.
These workshops are intended to develop the work, not to shop
for backers.
