Summary: New space: close but no cigar, mainstage
proposal deadline coming up, outreach opportunity, and more!
Jan 23 meeting notes by Julie Mullen (who will, from now on, bring the
dang laptop and take notes)
(Also added to by Corey Klemow from memory and notes)
Managing Director - John Mitchell
.will toss stuff out if it is left in the dressing room.
.says our new copier is on its way, and training on how to use it will be available
Board of Directors - Jonathan Tavvs
The space committee has been searching and turned down the Stages theater on McCadden. It's a great
theater (copious parking! two stages plus a rehearsal space!
$1000/mo less!), but the actual stage is weird and small and not conducive to
the type of theater we do. Get in touch if you know of any space that might be
available. Contact the board.
Old AC - Paul Plunkett, David LM Mcintyre & Padraic Duffy
We might have Fast & Loose 2/26/05 (if My Uncle Sam can spare their
already-scheduled rehearsal time) - anybody wanna produce it?
Dark Nights and Late Nights for Uncle Sam and Ivona will be announced
imminently.
New AC - Padraic Duffy & Joe Jordan
Taking submissions for July - Dec until midnight Jan 31st. Will choose by
no later than the end of Feb - and possibly sooner! Propose NOW! And
send us comments so we know what projects company members support - read the
proposals online!
Literary - Ruth Silveira
Ruth has enough readers. She'll read plays from outside playwrights.
Membership Committee - Kathi Copeland, Aldrich Allen & John Wuchte
New position of Production Assistant will help with lots of stuff for the last two weeks of shows. Basically, this is a gopher position. It
helps people get in tech requirements without committing to the entire run of a show. It's also damn useful for producers.
Development Director - Margaret Martinello
Margaret has identified 45 foundations that might support us.
She met with the board and wants to do an April Fools fundraiser.
The board has made a personal financial commitment, and is working on enlarging to include more board members.
Margaret wants to build a philanthropic board who give $5000 annually.
She is setting up a gift acknowledgment program.
She's looking for volunteers to help with writing!
Director of Operations - Brandon Clark
We have a paid lot Fridays and Saturdays to control the lot, cut down on fights with parking lot hangers out. This costs us nothing and makes us
no money, but it cuts down on stress for house managers.
Box Office - Ruth Silveira
Ruth just wanted to add that the house manager position is still quite useful for greeting patrons as they come in, telling folks to turn off
cell phones, etc.
Facilities - Lou Burnstein
The holes in the parking lot, the marquee, and the arms on our chairs have been fixed by Lou. McIntyre reports exposed wires and side door
issues (broken hinge).
Production Managers - Becky Harrison
Welcome Packet is being made and is chock full of stuff.
Rentals: give Becky the information about any inquiries.
Peter and Becky have split emails. Check the contact page on the website.
Robert Patrick will be doing a Q&A at the theater 2/7/05 - company members
get in FREE, all others $5.
SHOW REPORTS
Finer Noble Gases lost a drummer, but since this writing has gained a drummer.
Love Tapes is rocking out. Feb. 6th, Superbowl Sunday is a meet the playwrights after show Q&A.
Valentine's Day (Mon. Feb. 14) is BCT pay-what-you-can.
My Uncle Sam is having closed rehearsals (you can come into the office,
but NOT the theater space - check the space calendar before coming down!
if you MUST use the space during rehearsals, call ahead and arrange it with our
stage manager) and needs folding chairs.
Ivona rights are still pending but the show will go on. Members can come to call backs only but you have to talk to Phil Wofford about this.
ALL audition signups will be shut down a week before the initial auditions begin
(Sat, Feb. 12), so sign up or request your callback time NOW!
Triple Crown wants your writing (and production help), so talk to the big man himself, Tom
Kiesche. (Hans and Brandon volunteered to be Board Ops at the meeting!)
OH, AND ONE MORE THING!
We can join Circle X in an outreach program Tuesday evenings from 8-9 p.m., playing
improv games with teenagers. Lou Burnstein volunteered to check this out.
Contact John Mitchell if you'd like to be involved.
OH, AND ANOTHER THING!
Bill Garrity memorial. Contact Gerald if you are coming. Or if you want to speak.
Minutes taken by Julie Mullen, and edited and
posted to the web by Corey Klemow.
Contact Corey with corrections and clarifications.
