What happened at the Company Meeting

Summary: Big ol' report from the MD, our next late-night show announced, Penn's promotin' us, and more!

Notes from SF Superbowl Sunday meeting 2/6/05 - taken by Julie Mullen

Our meeting was short and sweet, with John Mitchell doing most of the talking, since many department heads were watching the Superbowl.

Managing Director - John Mitchell

Big thanks to the crew of FNG and Love Tapes and David McIntyre for the sound computer.

Our next meeting will be a town hall. The topic is Moving: Pros and Cons. In the next couple of weeks, submit questions in advance. We'll keep the Town Hall to 1 hour.

Put all credit card batch settlements in the safe or in John Mitchell's box in the office. The batch settlements are those long statements.

David is training people on the copier. Groups will train with David. The copier is hooked up to the computer and can print now. The nextstep is hooking up the fax.

Volunteers are needed to paint our lobby. Date TBA.

Postcard mailing is upcoming for My Uncle Sam.

We will be rearranging and painting the office and green room between Love Tapes and Sam.

You can see FNG for $5 after Love Tapes, if you see them on the same day. And actually, if you buy tix on line, you can get that discount for different days. Sneaky!

New Comp Policy: Actors get 1 comp to mainstage shows that are running and the mainstage shows after their show. So the Sam cast & crew get 1 comp to Love Tapes and FNG and one to Ivona.

Box Office form has been updated. Ruth is updating the instructions in the box office book.

Our taxes are almost done and we are balanced for January.

Margaret, our Development Director, is going after foundations. John is taking suggestions for specific things we are fundraising for.

from the Board: April 1st is a fundraiser. Steven Banks is helping us. It's a variety show.

The Artistic Committee Speaks

David McIntyre: The late night show during My Uncle Sam is Franz LaFitte's Extraordinary All-American Sideshow and Human Oddity Whatsit (or, F.L.E.A.  S.H.O.W.)  It's a carnival side show and will run 11 p.m. Saturdays. It will be 1 hour or under, 3 or 4 acts. There will be a talker outside who tries to bring in audience from the mainstage show.

There will be no dark night in the Sam cycle.

Joe Jordan: Thank you for the proposals. We have more than ever. AC is choosing by the end of this month for programming for July-December. Meetings will be scheduled with all proposal folks. Thanks for the feedback on the proposals on the website.

There has been a call for scripts to be made available to read. If you have objections to your script being made available, let the AC know. Otherwise, hard copies will be available in the office. Please do not take scripts home!.

Publicity

Phil Sokoloff: Phil is working with Penn's publicists (both named Glen). Penn will be on KROQ and KBIG this week. We might do ticket give aways. We're on KMPC also on the Poor Man show.

Please let Phil know about an event 21 days before it happens. He needs photos 2 weeks before opening. The photos must be JPEG 300 DPI resolution.

Brief discussion of how ticket give aways work: Station faxes Phil names and he calls them in to the theater reservation line.

Box Office

Ruth: We need sign ups.

Literary

Ruth: Thanks to readers.

Marketing

Wuchte: Post card list has been updated for distribution around town.

Wuchte asks new folks at the meeting if our web site is confusing.
Suggestions: our address should be up front, the front page is cluttered, the web site is colorful but there's too much going on, we should make it more obvious which shows are playing.

Mem Com

Wuchte: Welcome to new folks.

Ruth: explains Triple Crown to new people.
Those interested in ivona

New Biz

Ruth: she went to the Gordon Davidson Art of Production meeting and found it not too useful, except that she found out that people go to the theater impulsively now, which may be an argument against seasons.

Mitchell responds to this that his game plan for seasons has switched to a flex pass for several shows. This is what is under consideration now.

Ruth: also, the meeting talked about establishing a relationship with the community, but this doesn't necessarily mean the neighborhood but our audience. Events like Q&As or festivals and the flex pass can help with this.

David: Please let him know if you have specialty acts for Franz LaFitte.

Joe: Reading of 12th Night the 25th or 27th of February.

Adjourned!
