Reports

Managing Director (John Mitchell)

Friday is first annual donors performance, invited perf. Of Sam & reception afterwards, will be asking folks to pledge and give money every month.  Volunteers may be needed, so watch the SAA email.  Company folks are encouraged to come to the performance and mingle. The audience has been invited by the board and the dir of dev, but feel free to come and mingle.  If you have anyone you would like to suggest, please let them know ASAP.

May 7th, we’re having an art auction, open to the public, invitations will go further out into the community.  At Zeitgeist Gallery on LaBrea.  Alcohol has been donated and refreshments.

Two pronged approach:  1 events where there are big ticket items to auction off, large donors, foundations, 2 grass roots small donations

Discussion of the evolution of the 4/1 fundraiser idea and how it was incorporated into a six month cycle of fundraising.

Issue about people coming to work calls.  A survey will be emailed to everyone.  John thinks the problem may be that we don’t know what people’s skills are beyond acting, directing, and writing.  Survey will tell us who the go to people are for stuff and who hates to do certain things.

Monday night meetings?  Next meeting Sunday, April 10th.  Town Hall about our mission statement.  We won’t be drafting it, but we’ll talk about whether it needs to be changed.  Email questions to John Mitchell.

Artistic Directors (Joe, Padraic & Jenelle)

July/August mainstage will be "Goose and Tom Tom" by David Rabe, director TBA

Tues/Wed show will be Slow & Tight III, produced by John Mitchell & Jenelle Riley, directed by Lanahan & Mitchell, seeking two other directors, email Jenelle

Operations (Brandon Clark)

The lobby & bathrooms have been painted.  Sign up for shifts.  If you are working box, please fill out box office form.

SAA (Julie Mullen)

Discontinuing phone tree but will continue to call folks w/o email access.

Publicist (Phil Sokoloff)

LA Times was here Friday.  Usual reminder, let him know 21 days in advance for events and shows.

Fraud:  Allen Brown, a guy who takes flash pics during the show, the foot fetish guy.  There are about 6 people who claim to be from publications and cannot substantiate it.

And Julie says let’s just post his pic and not let him in the theater.

Producers

My Uncle Sam

This weekend David McIntyre is My Uncle Sam, and one other cast member will be replaced also.  Thanks to all who helped out, and thanks to those who will.

FLEASHOW

Recreation of 20th century carnival will happen on April 9th and April 30th, poss of added shows on 16th & 23rd and we’ll have a talker outside, doing stuff with a bullwhip and hammering nails into his nose.  David is in talks with Satanica, who lights herself on fire and various other folks.

David needs some producing help to make calls to performers.  Get in touch with him.  He may need board ops.  He could also use assistance with publicity, putting posters up at tattoo parlors, clubs, Mondo Video, places like that.

Brandon asks if we are liable for injury, and David says the acts all carry their own insurance through the clown union, or something.

New Biz

Lou Burnstein says please be careful what you put down the slop sink.  It’s just a sink and will clog.  He found paint chips in it.  Kate suggests we screen off the sink during paint calls and remove the screen during shows.

Brandon asks about the financial condition of the theater.  John Mitchell says as always, we are very tight on money.  Still carrying debt from last year.

Tom says we started softball practice last weekend.

Brandon asks, if My Uncle Sam doesn’t work and fundraiser is a dud, are we in trouble?  John answers that he doesn’t have a back up plan.  John says there will be a rough patch, and Brandon asks if there should be additional fundraising.  John says we are going to be okay.

David just got back from the Humana new play festival in Louisville, KY.  Finer Noble Gases at Sacred Fools theater was mentioned as a success of the new play festival.
