Summary: Jenelle's gossip column (aka minutes) - including that darned hornblower, dealing with graffiti, a new late-night show, and more!

May 9, 2005 Meeting Notes

Taken by Jenelle Riley, who will take this opportunity to indulge her secret desire to write a kitschy gossip column…

An intimate but exciting group poured into the red-hot Sacred Fools Theatre on Heliotrope Dr., which was still abuzz with the kinetic energy from the previous evening’s Fast & Loose festivities! There was Ruth Silvera, who had revealed the night before she served alcohol-laden punch to her baby daughter, clad in a stylish turquoise top and fleece pullover. Also spotted: Becky Harrison lighting up the room in a sparkling Caroline Herrera gown similar to the one worn by Renee Zellweger at her recent surprise wedding to some country singer she’s known for less than 5 months, can you believe that??? With Sergeant-of-Arms Julie Mullen recuperating at an undisclosed location from an undisclosed illness, the commanding Tom Kiesche took hold of the reins like an oversized jockey and called the meeting to order.

MANAGING DIRECTOR

The rakish John Mitchell, Managing Director, clad in a stylish ELS button-down shirt and charming grin, stepped up deliver the following news:

--The Saturday night fundraiser raised $2,500. The event was such the toast of the town, we hope to do another one in the future

--Regarding Horatio Hornblower, whose incessant honking during Sunday night’s F&L was a most unwelcome interruption, Mr. Mitchell warned everyone he is a “fucking nutcase.” Lou countered with “He’s just a fucking asshole” and Kate chimed in he has “rage issues” before adding: “Fuck.” Mr. Mitchell proceeded to instruct members to not confront HH; instead, have the House Manager that evening call the police. We will continue filing noise complaints but due to pesky liability issues, we should not confront the rascal directly.

--The ongoing “new space” discussion was mentioned, with Mr. Mitchell assuring everyone that if progress was made, the company would be informed. We are also examining the possibility of sharing space. Word on the street is that the kind souls at Theatre of NOTE have said that if they were to partner with any theatre company, it would be the Fools. Huzzah!

--There was minor discussion prompted by upcoming GOOSE & TOMTOM cast member Adam Bitterman of the mural situation. Let’s get that graffiti painted over, people! Fabu Frank Stasio agreed to contact the virile Joe H-K for information on who originally made the mural. A rugged Phillip Wofford suggested redoing the mural entirely, with the suggestion that the local police department hook us up with troubled youths as outreach. Senor Bitterman brought a close to the discussion by saying the graffiti needed to be covered soon, or the problem would just get worse.

--Finally, Mssr. Mitchell said he has noticed a lack of communication lately and if anyone has ideas other than Tightcircle and the SAA e-mail, to suggest them to him at ManagingDirector@sacredfools.org. He added something else about communication, but I tuned out.

Oops, MEDIUM is on so the rest will be done in normal-speak…

ARTISTIC COMMITTEE

Jinel and Padraic were present, Birthday Boy Joe was sleeping it off somewhere.

--The AC is now accepting proposals for the January-June 2006 shows. Deadline is July 1 so start proposin’!

--The late-night show during GOOSE & TOMTOM will be a new serialized show tentatively titled LATE NIGHT CEREAL (get it?). We are completely open to other suggestions for names. Padraic is lead producer and is seeking scripts from company members. The idea is that 5 different 10-minute storylines will be presented every week, each story ending in a cliffhanger. The audience will then vote on 3 of the serials to return the following week with a new storyline. The inevitable comparisons to previous late-night shows were made and acknowledged. Please submit scripts of ANY genre—IF YOU ARE A COMPANY MEMBER, YOUR SCRIPT WILL BE MOUNTED. GUARANTEED. So send scripts immediately to PadraicDuffy@sbcglobal.net.

LIT COMMIT

--Ruth Silvera has scripts for people to read! She can even e-mail them to you!

--Ruth and David LM are interested in doing potluck readings in the future. More info to follow.
