Summary: Halloween party coming up, Literary
Committee Reading Series about to begin, upcoming shows need running crews,
and more!
EMail links are provided
as a convenience when possible; however, there is no guarantee that everybody
will check their EMail regularly. Please check your phone list for
other contact info.
Business
Manager - Carla-Jo Bailey
* We need $2000 for October rent.
We made it up, but we're now paying off Caliban (for their $800
production budget).
* We still need to raise money for
November right away.
* This past weekend's box office went
towards paying back a loan.
* Please turn in receipts by November
1.
Facilities
/
Tongue
Tied Tales - Kirstin Burbank
* We need to find the dumpster key.
The neighbors are using the dumpster and causing an overflow.
* Aldrich Allen: There's a keyed lock
in the office.
* Tongue-Tied Tales opens on
Tuesday! Come see it on Tuesday, PLEASE!
* The show is almost entirely made
up of company members!
Artistic
Committee - Stephanie Bell, Crystal Keith & Scott Rabinowitz
* Still taking mainstage proposals
for the vacated Crash slot until October 31.
* It doesn't have to be a full proposal;
we'll take suggestions, hints, and comments.
Literary
Committee
- Corey Klemow (for Michael Farkash)
* FYI - I am NOT on the Literary Committee;
Michael just asked me to make an announcement about the reading series,
because he couldn't be here today.
* October 28 - "Primal Tour",
by Michael Farkash
* November 4 - "Fragging",
by Louis Cimino
* November 11 - "The Perverse
Tongue", by George Larkin
* November 18 -
Short Plays
10/30 UPDATE:
The short play show on Nov. 18 has been cancelled.
Online Committee - Brad
Friedman
* Thanks to Aaron Francis for painting
the web address on the front of the theatre!
Hallowen Party / Fool
- Gerald McClanahan & Paul Byrne
* Halloween Party - Sat., Oct.
27, after Crime Scream - $15 for CS & party, $10 for
just the party
* Paul Byrne: I'm working hard on
getting an event licence to sell beer; we need a volunteer to actually
deliver the paperwork. (A volunteer is found.)
* Stephanie Bell: If we're charging
$15, we should not also be charging for alcohol on top of that.
* How about free drink tickets?
* Scott Rabinowitz: How about an open
bar for an hour?
* Adam Bitterman: If we give the beer
away, we don't need a permit.
* Paul Byrne: The permit costs $25;
I'm paying for it myself.
* We need bartenders.
(You can keep the tips!)
* There will be a Reiki room; this
is a sort of healing energy thing. I don't necessarily believe in
that sort of thing, but I've tried it and it works.
* Need volunteers to help clean
up afterwards.
* Bring/donate food if you wanna.
Chips, nibbly things - no hot food, please.
* The permit will also allow selling
of alcohol during Caprice.
* FoOL returns this Friday.
Just $5! Runs through November 9.
Crime
Scene - Paul Byrne
* We'd like holiday-themed scripts
for Crime Scene in December - Christ Scene is coming!
* Jessie Marion will be directing
Steve Tanner's Zeppelin, which will feature a lot of German accents.
There's one other storyline that's about to begin, the the details aren't
set yet.
A word from CRYSTAL KEITH:
* If you know the press is going to
be here, coming to the show is the best thing you can do to help.
* I'm trying to arrange a display
of pieces by local artists on the back wall (behind the risers, leading
to the bathrooms) - a gallery with different pieces that will change over
time.
A word from BRAD FRIEDMAN:
* We need to do a curtain speech at
the start of ALL our shows, to promote our other shows!
Ten
Tops - Aldrich Allen
* Scary as Hell 10 Tops on
Monday, October 29 - featuring a screening of the film Traditional Family
Vampires!
A word from SCOTT RABINOWITZ:
* Please come see The Tempest,
which I directed at Pasadena Shakespeare Company.
Publicity
- Philip Sokoloff
* Press is coming to Tongue-Tied
Tales on Tuesday; please COME!
* All major papers came to see Caprice
on opening weekend - 8 critics total.
Uncle
Tom's Cabin - Zander Stephano
* READING: Sunday, Nov. 4,
probably 1pm at the theatre (before the company meeting)
* AUDITIONS: Sunday, Nov. 11, 10am-6pm
& Monday, Nov. 12, 10am-10pm (Sunday & Monday); maybe a third
day on the 13th.
* Color-blind casting - we need chameleons;
each actor will play about 12 different characters.
* Monologues
will be on the website. Bring in a monologue and I'll direct
it in different ways.
* If you'd like to be on the house
crew, let me know - I have a stage manager, but the rest of the crew positions
are open.
The
Holiday Show - Desi
Doyen
* We need a running crew!
* Eleven performances - Thursdays-Saturdays,
8pm and Sundays at 7pm.
* Casting is not done yet, but will
be announced soon.
A word from MATT SAXE:
* I'm looking into getting us a P.O.
Box closer to here, to replace the one in Venice.
A word from PHIL SOKOLOFF:
* There are four more performances
of the play I'm in at Theatre West - Ray Bradbury's Falling Upwards.
* Ray Bradbury will be there at the
November 1st performance.
