BOARD OF DIRECTORS (John Sylvain)

New Development Director Announced

The Board interiewed several people for the position and we have decided on Margaret Martinello.  She comes with an extensive background in Developing/Fundraising and raised loads of money (millions/billions) for USC recently.  The Company did introductions for Margaret.

We are working toward an April 1, 2005 fundraiser.  Return to the April Fool’s day event.

The Board is inviting potential donors to the opening nights of Love Tapes and Finer Noble Gases.  We are seeking a place nearby to entertain with drinks before the show.  Any ideas?

Phil LaMarr (Board Member) is stepping down from the Board.  He said “it isn’t fun.”  (John Wuchte suggested Phil L. be the beginning of an Advisory Board.  Sylvain said he would ask him.)

Kara Leigh – I have been keeping track of the online sale addresses for the mailing list and sending it to Julie once a month.  What should I do now?

Sylvain – The MD will decide that.

Mitchell – Send them to me for now.  We will work everything out for the future.

Aaron Francis – Baravarian (landlord) keeps telling me how much he likes us and wants us to have the space next door although he realizes we are not capable of paying the extra $1,000 now, but hopefully in the next year.  Just wanted to let the Board and MD know this fact.

Mitchell – I believe he means the immediate space next to us and not the entire thing.  Will confirm.

Wuchte – Have you had a meeting with Baravarian to discuss this in detail?

Mitchell – Not an official meeting, but I have met him.

MANAGING DIRECTOR (John Mitchell)

New Copy Machine: We have a lease on a new copy machine.  Can handle 5,000 copies a month, investigating a color model, but need to weigh the cost of supplies etc…Full service contract.

Councilman Garcetti: Met with councilman Garcetti.  He is aware of Sacred Fools and the parking lot and the alley.  Spoke of introducing us to some organizations in the neighborhood.  It was a good meeting.

New Space:  We did speak about potential space and it is possible, but 3-4 years down the road.  We need to lay the groundwork now though.  Meeting with the Hollywood Redevelopment folks in the future and discuss possibilities that are out there.

Garcetti recently got his SAG card and I said he should take part in F&L.

Voter Registration: I volunteered the Company to help Garcetti with voter registration.  More details to come.

Interested in setting up outreach program at schools (a la Circle X).  I will find out all the details.  (John Wuchte mentioned the school program that Julie Mullen and Lou Burnstein helped organize and run last year and the difficulties of adequate support from the Company.  Someone asked about the FREE space we were offered last year in exchange for a school program and how we decided it would be too much of a commitment, but also how the space being offered was not that great and worth the effort.   Sylvain spoke of working with kids in a program recently and how rewarding it was.  The Company expressed interest in the pursuit of this project.

LA Stage Alliance:  I met with Terence Macfarland of LA Stage Alliance.  They are the Ovation organization and small theater support organization.  Offered our space to have a meeting of 99 seat theaters in the beginning of next year.

Ticket Prices: Finer Noble Gases - $15.00.  Love Tapes - $20.00.

Historical note: Mainstage shows began at $10 in 1997. Raised to $12 by a company vote on 6/25/2000 and began with Cut Poison & Burn. Raised to $15 by a company vote on 10/8/2000 with pricing to begin in 2001 with Chopin in Space. Raised to $18 by MD in 2004 for Dubya 2004.

Development Team – I want to organize a Development Team for the theater to help support Margaret (Deve. Dir.) etc…I would like someone to take on the position of Archivist (this being said while making direct eye contact with Mr. Corey Klemow.)

ARTISTIC COMMITTEE (Mcintyre/Duffy/Plunkett)

Still seeking Late/Dark/One Nighters for 2005 until June (during or between My Uncle Sam and Ivona).

Triple Crown asked the Company for producer support and received some encouragement.  More to follow.

PRODUCTION MANAGER (Becky Harrison)

Peter Mattsson and I are working in tandem and PM.  Becky will handle the calendar and all scheduling.  Peter will schedule all strikes/builds.

We will be trading off on being the main PM for shows.  Love Tapes/Becky.  FNG/Peter.

Possible one day rental with ALAP, a Los Angeles playwright’s organization.

OPERATIONS DIRECTOR (Brandon Clark)

There will be a parking service for New Year’s Eve.  We will re-evaluate them in the new year and their effectiveness.

LITERARY (Ruth Silveira)

Please contact Ruth if you are interested in reading scripts submitted to Sacred Fools.

PUBLICITY (Phil Sokoloff)

LA Times is doing a year end roundup of political shows and will include Dubya and Laura.

Press photos need 2 weeks prior to opening for any chance of possible coverage in pre-publicity.  300 DPI and can be handled electronically.

MEMCOM (Wuchte)

Thank you to the members for good support this past year.  Make it a New Year’s goal to invite one new person to a meeting or the theater.  Thanks to those who helped with the beginning of clean up today.

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR (Kate Morrision)

Big cleaning in progress.  Make the space more user friendly.  Please remove and personal items from the theater so they don’t get thrown out.

John Mitchell - Please do not use Angstrom Lighting any more.  Sacred Fools has several folks who work at ESL Lighting and they can now handle our needs.

Look toward January 2 to have another big push for cleaning etc…

John Wuchte – Is it possible to soundproof the generator room behind the audience and to also mask any light coming from the sound booth?

Kate – I will look in to it.

NEW ELECTED AC (Jenelle Riley/Joe Jordan/Padraic Duffy)

Accepting proposals now.  We would like to schedule at least all the mainstage show for July-Dec 2005.  Deadline is January 31, 2005.

Fundraiser for Uncle Sam raised about $700.

Please comment on propsals to help out the AC, so they have some idea what shows the company will actually support.

Minutes taken by John Wuchte, and edited and posted to the web by Corey Klemow.  Contact Corey with corrections and clarifications.
