STAGE NOTES Crime Scene, Los Angeles' wildly well-attended, comedy- mystery serial, celebrated its first anniversary at the Sacred Fools Theater Company on May 29th. Co-created by ex-downtown New York actors Scott Rabinowitz and Danielle Surrette, the Saturday-night late show combines three different story lines with three different casts and directors. To date, the series has showcased over 30 writers and directors, as well as over 200 actors. "Each writer's job is to fill 20 minutes each week," Rabinowitz explains, "and the material has to do with some sort of 'crime scene' -- whatever that means to the author." The plots have varied from the murder of a rabbi to a catering affair where the "crime" was a missing entree. The styles range from classic noir to hard-boiled detective to super heroes to musicals. Coming up: You're a Dead Man, Charlie Brown.
Crime Scene, The Heliotrope Theater, 660 No. Heliotrope,
Los Angeles, (310) 281-8337. Sat. only, 11 p.m. $10.
