Auditions

Sacred Fools holds open auditions for all of our mainstage shows and some of our other shows as well.

No auditions currently scheduled.

Playwrights

Sacred Fools does not accept cold submissions in any format. Interested playwrights are encouraged to submit a "one-sheet" description of their play using the form below. If we want to read it, we'll ask for a digital copy of the full script. Sacred Fools seeks unproduced plays that embrace the theatrical form and speak to the diverse culture of contemporary society.

PLEASE NOTE: For the 20-21 season Sacred Fools has joined the Jubilee Festival with "Full Jubilee" status. Please review the festival information at jointhejubilee.org to determine whether your play is a fit. If it is not, please resubmit after April 1st, 2020 for consideration toward the 2021-22 season and beyond.

Company Membership

The best way to become involved with us is to simply get yourself involved. Come to a Company Meeting and volunteer to help out on something so that we can get to know you! (Our Company Meetings are usually the second Sunday of the month, and are always listed on our Calendar of Events.) Another great way to stay informed is to join the Sergeant at Arms email list. Simply and you will be added!

We have two levels of membership: Associate and Full Company Membership.

Associate Members are nominated by company members. Benefits include $10 tickets to all Sacred Fools productions, being added to the Associate Facebook page where you can stay well informed of our goings-on, and being in the pool for full company membership.

Full Company Members are also nominated by company members. You must first be an Associate Member. Membership is for those who would like to have a voice in the artistic direction of the company, and want to help us create theatre - both your own projects and the projects of others.

Invitations to membership are extended twice a year (March and August). If you accept your invitation, you are immediately made a member of Sacred Fools, with all its privileges and responsibilities. Benefits include guaranteed audition slots, the right to propose projects for production, $5 tickets on company shows and more. Maintaining membership involves being a member of one of our many committees and completing 24 work hours every 6 months towards the company or any of its productions.

Sacred Fools is a non-dues-paying Company!

All that being said, ALL of our company meetings are open, our casting policy is open, and you do not need to be a member to participate.

Interested so far? Want more details? If so... contact the Membership Committee via the below form and let us know!

Or... just show up!

Intern Program
Community Outreach Coordinator - Crystal Keith

Sacred Fools Theater Company, one of the most prolific theater companies in Los Angeles, is seeking individuals who are interested in learning how a small theater company operates. We can provide internships in the following areas:

· Stage management
· Light board operation
· Sound board operation
· Marketing
· Production management
· Set design and construction
· Lighting design
· Costume design and construction/purchase
· Run crew
· Theatre Arts Administration

Sacred Fools is a not-for-profit, 501c3 organization, run solely by our ensembled artists under the Los Angeles 99-Seat Plan. Our company is an almost all-volunteer democratic society run on "sweat equity," meaning company members staff each function at the theater.

Our ongoing commitment is to develop new plays and produce existing work that challenges the traditional expectations of the theatrical experience. Sacred Fools’ productions are always reviewed by major L.A. publications and are among the city’s most consistently recognized and rewarded.

Membership is open, and students can (and are encouraged to) become theater members, which can lead to performing opportunities, writing and design opportunities, etc.

This internship can be quite flexible according to student needs.  Drop us a line via the below form and see if we’re the right place for you to learn how independent L.A. theater works.
