CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Floriano - MALE / 20 TO 35
An honest young man on the run from the King’s police. Falls in love
easily.
Erifila - FEMALE / 20 TO 35
A young beautiful woman of sharp intellect and fire in her soul. On the
run from her father to elope with her stable boy. Floriano’s love
interest.
Pisano - MALE / 30 TO 60
A proud, older gentleman. The gatekeeper and orderly for the Valencia
Asylum. Has great wit and sense of irony. Likes his drink.
Thomas - MALE / 20 TO 50
Madman, and servant to Pisano. Believes that he is Don Quixote.
Fedra - FEMALE / 20 TO 30
The niece of the Administrator for the Asylum, Sancho. Friend to Laida.
Falls dangerously in love with Floriano. She has a short temper and a
way with words.
Laida - FEMALE / 20 TO 35
The Asylum’s laundress. BFF with Fedra. Fights hard to gain attention
from men, conniving. Fiercely intelligent, but plays the blonde card.
Sancho - MALE / 45 TO 70
An older, proper gentleman. Administrator for the Asylum and Fedra’s
uncle. Believes everything must always be in order.
Verino - MALE / 30 TO 50
A man of science and traveling doctor. Loves the sound of his own voice
and is always right. Must help treat the loonies of their maladies.
Belardo - MALE / 20 TO 50
Required Skills - Musical
Instruments: Classical Guitar, Guitar. A madman in the Asylum who
believes he is Lope de Vega, the play’s author. PLAYS GUITAR.
Valerio - MALE / 20 TO 35
Valerio is Floriano’s best friend and confidant. Helps secure Floriano’s
hiding spot in the Asylum, then falls in love with Erifila.
Mordacho - MALE / 20 TO 50
Required Skills - Musical Instruments: Classical Guitar, Guitar.
Mordacho is a madman in the Asylum and also a musician; he is the
musical Master of Ceremonies for the play.
Liberto/Gentleman - MALE / 30 TO 50
Liberto is Valencia’s sheriff, who comes looking for Floriano in the
Asylum. The Gentleman is a mystery caller to the Asylum who has some
secrets he is hiding. He is just dressed too nice…
Leonato/Martin - MALE / 20 TO 50
Leonato is Erifila’s ‘lover’. He is proud and easily offended. Robs
Erifila and dumps her in the forest. Martin is a madman and servant to
Pisano. Believes that he is Cervantes. |
