Sacred Fools Theater Company is currently casting for the West Coast premiere of Recent Alien Abductions, the 2017 Humana Festival of New American Plays hit was which was commissioned by Playwrights Horizon and written by New York-based playwright Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas.
For decades, Sacred Fools Theater Company has been dedicated to creating and presenting eclectic, wide-ranging, and highly engaging theatrical work in Los Angeles. From the irreverent to the silly to the profound, Sacred Fools remains a staple of the LA theater community both in the work it creates and in it's stewardship of The Broadwater Theaters in Hollywood. "Recent Alien Abductions" will be a centerpiece show in Fools' season long celebration of our 30th year.
Storyline: Part family drama, part examination of personal and cultural alienation, Recent Alien Abductions follows Álvaro, a queer Puerto Rican artist who believes he has unraveled a real-life conspiracy embedded in an early episode of The X-Files. Years later, a close friend arrives at Álvaro’s family home hoping to get permission to publish his plays. What she uncovers while there means Álvaro might have been right all along.
